Happy Mudder's Day

A generous helping of rain and hail blowing through the Greater Toronto Area on Saturday prompted many a thought about tire choice. Jones XRs were left on the bike under the assumption that the course would dry up enough to make these faster rolling tires manageable. Turned out to be a decent choice, but for different reasons, as the course was either mildly dusty or a shoe-sucking mud bog.

The lights were dimming a little bit on the last lap.  Managed to get back on track after three other guys made their presence known while trudging up one of the last muddy hills. Had a good run into the finish area with three out of the four and hopefully made some spectator's day a tad more exciting by treating them to a 3-up sprint.  Conceded a spot to Kyle Douglas, but snuck past Scott Lundy in a cramptastic ~50m effort.  Good times!

Apparently there was a rather large turtle spotted near the course.  While I can't say that I saw it, I can say that I rode off the trail and landed in a big pile of sticks near where this slow moving shelled creature was reported to be.  Not quite as exciting, I know.  I wish I saw the turtle.  This blog might benefit from a good turtle sighting story.
